Mr Polyzois was very understanding when I arrived at his surgery in absolute agony. He scheduled me for surgery as soon as he could and I was truly thankful to now be pain free and have full use of my shoulder again.

A most considerate and helpful clinician in taking me gently through all the steps towards deciding on the right treatment. Operated on for a complete left reverse shoulder replacement. After several months physio all my previous pain has gone and have got nearly all movement back. At 87 years old couldn't ask for more and ever grateful for his help.

I found Mr Polyzois both very knowledgeable and showed a good deal of empathy toward me for my injury. He listened to everything I had to say, addressed my concerns and together we agreed on the necessary actions required to get me back to full health.
Would not hesitate to return to Mr Polyzois in the future should the need arise.

I had the misfortune of falling off my bicycle and ended with my shoulder and face on the hard pavement, so fast that I can't even remember the fall itself. I was referred to Mr Polyzois by one of the other consultants on the NHS as the break of the humerus bone was very complicated. I can truly say that he was wonderfully professional, a really kind, warm human being and superb at his job. We discussed options and he recommended surgery which I had the following week. I am a musician and it was scary to think how things could turn out. He did a splendid job and even the scar is so tidy and understated! The outcome of the surgery was very good. After doing lots of physiotherapy and being closely monitored by this remarkable surgeon, I am now nearly completely where I was before the accident movement wise, and completely pain free. Many thanks to Mr Polyzois and his great team - I will be forever grateful that I landed in your hands during such a difficult and vulnerable time.

Excellent advice from Mr Polyzois following referral to him for a shoulder problem and he provided excellent treatment to resolve the problem.
I shall ask to see him again should I have future problems involving shoulder, elbow, wrist or hand.

Mr Ioannis Polyzois is an experienced and skilled consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at the Surrey Orthopaedic Clinic in Chertsey. He is an expert in shoulder and upper limb surgery, for which he is at the top of his field. He specialises in arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery, rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilisation, complex upper limb trauma, the latest techniques in reconstructive surgery for sports upper limb injuries and all types of upper limb joint replacement surgery.
After qualifying from Liverpool University Medical School, Mr Polyzois completed his postgraduate trauma and orthopaedic training in Leeds, Athens and London. In this time, he worked in major trauma and elective centres, including Leeds General Infirmary and University College London Hospital. Whilst studying in Athens, he was the gold medallist in the Athens orthopaedic exit exam diploma and in the European Board Diploma. Mr Polyzois has also completed dual specialist fellowship training in shoulder and upper limb surgery at the Rowley Bristow unit in Chertsey and at the world-renowned Reading Shoulder Unit, a centre of excellence in this field.
Alongside his clinical commitments, Mr Polyzois is very active in his research, with more than 25 ‘medline’ peer-reviewed publications and authorship of several book chapters in orthopaedics and sports surgery. Mr Polyzois also presents regularly, both nationally and internationally on shoulder and elbow surgery, sports injuries and orthopaedics.
